Poll: Best Operating System for Affiliate Marketing
Sam HarrelsonPolls, Tools May 17th, 2007Some use Macs, some use Vista, some still swear by XP and one or two of us use Linux (myself included)… but ask any affiliate marketer what is the best operating system to use for affiliate marketing and you’ll get a number of different responses.
So, let’s do a poll to figure out what AffiliateFortuneCookies readers think is the best platform for how we do business…

Mac os X, simply because you get the best of both worlds (intel version). You can run windows programs side by side with your mac programs.

I’m probably one of the more tech challenged people out there but I can’t see how it matters at all. I use XP, so those doing affiliate marketing with other OS. What exactly can you do, that I can’t on XP?

I know for myself, there’s been programs or web based applications that I want to load but only work on IE in Windows XP or some derivative of that. I know people have certain programs they like to run to help out with stat keeping, etc that are not platform agnostic and require either Mac or Windows. Plus, I like to keep a Windows and Mac box to see how sites appear or function on other platforms besides the Ubuntu laptop that I mainly use.
The browser is probably a good thing to poll for too (Firefox vs IE7 vs IE6 vs Safari vs Opera)…Or even email client (Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, GMail, Yahoo Mail, etc).

I have seen people complain that some things don’t work with a Mac or Safari before, can’t recall that with Windows. Since it is the most widely used, people are usually going to make sure it works with them. But having the others (knowing somebody with a different OS) is good for checking your site out. I check mine out with different browsers and ask people with a Mac, how my sites look etc.
