I had the same thing happen when I took a Philosophy 101 class back in college. I needed a 3 credit course to fill out the semester and met the Professor the previous semester who talked me into it. I read Plato, Descartes, Mill, and Nietzsche that semester and everything changed. The next semester I became a Philo major and was introduced to the works of Joseph Campbell. The journey has been going on ever since.
“The cave you fear to enter hold the treasure you seek.” – Joseph Campbell.
I was voted Most Likely to Live in Alameda Forever.
Guess where I live?
That aside, great episode. I completely relate… Your college experiences and all the shaping is very VERY alike to what I went through with college & my career… reconciling a theatre arts degree with marketing & grappling all the what ifs in life.
I’m commenting as I’m listening, so forgive me if this is rambly but… maybe it’s the day I’m having but this is really touching me in a personal way. This is why when you talk, I listen.

hey Sam.
I listened this morning on the way home from dropping my boy off at daycare (which is only 10 minutes).
I sat in the driveway to listen to the rest.
Best episode yet. seriously. As real as it gets.

Love the Campbell quote, Mike. Funny how that happens to people.
Thanks, Scott. That means a ton coming from you, bro.
