Great podcast today, Sam, thanks for the free consulting!
I also love science fiction and I thought about what I would like in a website. One thing I would find interesting and fun is to have one of those online book clubs where you talk about a certain book. Maybe you could shoot a video of you reading the book (not sure about copyright, there) and go through at the rate of, oh, a chapter every couple of days… depends on how long the chapter is. Then talk about the chapter and ask some good open-ended questions to get us interested. (If you taught 8th grade, you know how to do this… I certainly learned how quick enough!) I think the back and forth conversation could be very interesting and could be a good way to get people involved.
Ideas for your 50th show… maybe let us send in a question to ask you. I know I often feel dumb or invasive asking people questions about affiliate marketing, it would be nice to actually be encouraged to ask questions. So many people treat the subject as taboo and off-limits.
I’ve really enjoyed your shows, thank you for sharing with us!

Wow, great stuff, Chris.
Love the idea of reading, but the copyright thing probably wouldn’t be cool. Maybe something like a reading club where I could ask questions based on content in the book? How about a mix between “Cliff-Notes” and a “reading quiz” to challenge people? I think that would be cool and keep people engaged. Thanks for the brainstorming!
As far as the 50th show goes, I’d love questions. Should I do something like a live show or just encourage people to send in comments?

Good god, why aren’t you in bed at this late hour! Oh, yeah, baby… I remember all too well…
I think there are probably a number of ways of getting people involved. I like the mix idea. Even just saying, “So and so said this… why do you think that was important? What did he really mean?” Man, you could have a field day asking those kinds of questions with Orson Scott Card’s books. Anything that gets people involved and encourages them to talk about their own opinions. We all love to do THAT!
I think a live show could be a real pain in the butt, especially when you haven’t established that pattern beforehand. But I’ve seen/heard it work very well when people either call in and leave a voice message or just send in an email question. Again, people love to hear their name and have that little bit of perceived fame.

Hey Sam .. as always a great show! Can’t wait to show you the site that I’ve been building with tons of inspiration from you - we’ll hope to get your participation as well.
Here’s my idea for the 50th show. You obviously have a great taste in music - I’ve heard Wilco, Neil Young, Eddie Vedder, NIN …. just off the top of my head.
Marking the 50th show with a rundown on the music you’ve chosen, why you’ve chosen it .. and what we can look forward to in the future would be great!
What do you think?
