People in the U.S. have steadily increased the amount of time they spend watching videos online, as Google’s YouTube remains by far their preferred video site, according to a study.
In July, almost 75 percent of U.S. Internet users watched videos online, up from 71.4 percent in March, according to comScore Networks.
The monthly time spent watching videos went up to an average of 181 minutes per viewer in July from 145 minutes per viewer in March, according to comScore.

There’s no doubt that we’re entering an age where mobile, web browsing, and video are all meshing together. Being able to monetize that sort of experience is one of the difficult issues facing marketers today.
Thanks to Jeff Doak for passing along this interesting piece which hints at a possible model for the future…
“US patent office documents released Thursday show that a startup named Pelago is seeking a patent covering Pay-For-Visit Advertising, which uses GPS, Bluetooth, or RFID on your mobile devices to track your travels to see if you wander into a place of business that appeared in an ad shown earlier on your cellphone, PDA, or laptop. To maximize ad revenue, phone calls are also tracked to see if you dial a number associated with an ad, and financial transactions are examined to see if you make a purchase from an advertiser. The application goes on to note that the system may be of interest to government agencies. Pelago just raised $7.4M from the likes of KPCB and Jeff Bezos.”
Video is hot and face time can drive higher conversions. If you run a marketing program that is highly personal in nature, you might want to consider including personalized video greetings (you can limit the amount of time visitors see the greeting, etc) with the Bubble Guru service.
I’ve tried this out on CostPerNews, but the audience there really doesn’t fit the type of crowd that would benefit (or provide higher conversions) from something like this.

Like Shawn Collins, I like to stay up on the latest literature and articles on affiliate marketing. He’s done a great review of a new book entitled Affiliate Millions. This is definitely a helpful post!
So if you get Affiliate Millions, take the advice with a grain of salt. It’s a decent introductory book for the newest of new newbies.
